O Programa Bolsa Família, principal programa de transferência de renda do Brasil, pode estar prestes a passar por uma modificação importante. According to a new proposal, the program may receive an “abono natalino” (Christmas bonus) for its beneficiaries. If approved, this initiative would be a significant advance in assistance to families in vulnerable situations, especially during the holiday season.

The proposal, presented by federal deputy Delegado Éder Mauro (PL-PA), aims to provide an additional financial support to families enrolled in the program during the holiday season. The focus of the project is to grant a double payment in December, effectively creating a “13th salary” for Bolsa Família beneficiaries.

As the project’s text stipulates, families registered in the program would receive their December payment doubled annually. Considering the current minimum monthly benefit value of R$ 600, this would mean an additional R$ 1,200 for each family.

The Bolsa Família program is a fundamental instrument for social assistance in Brazil, providing financial support to vulnerable families. This proposed modification aims to provide an extra boost to these families during the holiday season, helping them to better face the expenses and challenges of this period.

The proposal is still under analysis in the Chamber of Deputies and has yet to be approved. However, if approved, it would represent a significant improvement in the program’s benefits for its beneficiaries.
